Celebrating at its Finest in the New Normal

Image
We are once again given the opportunity to celebrate Binatbatan Festival despite the ongoing pandemic, and the citizens of Vigan City are glad to be able to experience the joy of the said festival in the new normal. Although there are evident changes brought by the spread of the COVID-19 virus, we carry on celebrating every festival in town. We make sure not to miss it and express our appreciation in our own unique ways, as we Filipinos are genuinely proud of our culture and traditions. Through these festivals, we can introduce to tourists the things that make Vigan City special. For this reason, an increasing number of tourists want to return to our town, bringing friends and family along to share the fun and excitement.            The Viva Vigan Festival of Arts takes place during the first week of May. The Save Vigan Ancestral Homes Association, Inc. established it in 1993 to raise awareness of the historic t...

Women Empowering Women

Image
Women have always faced various forms of discrimination and harassment from people based on their sex and gender. Gender inequality has long been a global issue. Women are constantly stereotyped as weak and insignificant. Because of gender stereotypes, girls and women are often undervalued and have lower social status. They do not recognize women's power, potential, or the impact they can have on society. Thankfully, there are policies and programs in place to protect the rights of all women. When a woman is empowered, she knows how to set things right. The pan...

Another quarter has come to an end, and just one more until I finish junior high school. I've been looking forward to my junior high school completion. Looking back, I remember the different experiences and challenges that helped me grow and become the person I am today. I am grateful that I can continue to learn new things and broaden my knowledge. Despite the pandemic, more learning keeps coming my way.             I am well aware that education is one of the most important aspects of my life. It helps me with my future, and if I use it wisely, I can have a good life through it. I have gained a lot of learnings on different subjects. I learned more about community-based research in ICT. I am able to recognize its significance in the community. It is never easy to conduct a study, especially for beginners. Many factors must be considered to ensure an object...

Safer Than Ever

Individuals under the age of 18 can now receive the COVID-19 vaccine as protection against the currently spreading virus. This, I believe, helped us reduce the number of people who became infected as well as the symptoms of infection. There are different brands that have manufactured COVID-19 vaccines to enhance and add more protection to individuals all over the world. It is available in various areas, and we must all do our part to help control the pandemic. This way, we can restore our normal lives without having to adhere to any safety protocols or restrictions.          Many people, particularly parents,  are still contemplating whether or not to get the vaccine.  Although this is understandable, we must educate ourselves on the benefits of receiving the shot. Some people may have unfavorable reactions to it, but this should not be used as an excuse not to get vaccinated because it wil...
