Our
favorite time of year is nearing, and the pandemic is still present, limiting
our ability to travel and meet our loved ones from various places. This will be
our second time coping with the pandemic during the holiday season.
Nonetheless, we Filipino Christians will not be deterred from celebrating the
birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Christmas lights and trees can be seen as
early as September. Every Filipino, especially children, can be seen beaming
with delight as they await the arrival of Christmas to receive gifts from their
family and godparents. This is the time when the family gets together to
celebrate and bond while enjoying the feast that has been prepared. However,
because the COVID-19 Pandemic has had such a great impact on our daily lives,
we are unable to be with our families and friends who come from long distances.
Christmas
is one of the most important events for Christians, and it should be valued and
respected. We each have our own traditions and ways of celebrating Christmas.
Despite the pandemic, we make every effort to make the occasion memorable and
special. Because of the significant changes brought about by the COVID-19
Pandemic, it is not surprising that we have mixed emotions about celebrating.
At the moment, the world is gradually recovering from the dangers and negative
effects of COVID-19 on us individuals. Even so, we must constantly be prepared
for the unexpected because everything is unpredictable in this time of
pandemic. We should hope for the best and express our love to our fellow
Filipinos this Christmas season, because Christmas is about giving, sharing,
and showing our love for one another.
We
must keep a positive attitude in order to experience the joy that this special
season brings. Let us give and share so that we can bring joy to others and
instill the spirit of Christmas in them. We must not allow the pandemic to
interrupt our celebrations in order to enjoy a Merry and Bright Christmas.
People must remember that celebrating the birth of Jesus is extremely important. Therefore, we ought to make it extra special because it only happens once a year and this is a perfect time to lend a hand.
