A Daughter’s First Love
Father's Day is a day when we can express our appreciation for all of their sacrifices and hard work for the family by celebrating with them. Sonora Smart Dodd, who was born in Arkansas and whose father, a Civil War veteran, raised her and her five siblings after their mother died in childbirth, founded Father's Day at the YMCA in Spokane, Washington in 1910. She is reported to have gotten the idea in 1909 while listening to a sermon on Mother's Day. Local religious leaders supported the idea, and the first Father's Day was observed on June 19, 1910, the month of the birthday of Dodd’s father. The day is celebrated on different dates around the world, and each region has its own traditions for honoring fatherhood. It is, however, observed every third Sunday of June in the Philippines. This is a perfect day to show our appreciation for our fathers' hard work while also making them feel special. Although we should not limit our expressions of gratitude to Father's Day. We must always treat them nicely in order for them to be able to start the day happily and do their best in their jobs. It is our obligation as children to bring them joy and to one day repay all of their efforts.
